Mr. Alan Richard Oakley, 48 years of age, died Saturday December 28, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Oakley was born in Fayetteville NC. Mr. Oakley was the Fire Chief of Branchville Fire Department, he was president of the Orangeburg County fire fighter's associating, he was employed by the Orangeburg County fire district as an vehicle maintenance specialist II, he was retired from the Army National Guard, and he devoted his life to serving others.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday January 4, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Branchville High School Gymnasium with Gene Ball officiating. Burial will be in Ott Cemetery in Branchville.
Survived by his wife Melody Oakley, of Branchville, mother, Theresa M. Oakley of Bolen town, father, Richard F. Oakley of Bowman, two step children, Gerald "Bubba" Logan, and Stephanie Revell, one sister, Linda O. Rutland of Orangeburg, three half siblings, and one nephew Ryan Rutland.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Branchville High School Gymnasium. The family suggest memorials be made to Branchville Fire Department, P.O. 156 Branchville, SC 29432. Ott Funeral Home in Branchville is in charge of arrangements.
