Arrye Tant Craig's Obituary
Branchville
Arrye Violet Tant Craig passed away peacefully in Canton, GA, on Thursday, at the age of 82. She was born in Denmark, SC, in 1930, to parents Susie Lee Byrd Tant and Julius C. Tant. She is the widow of SSG Robert M. Craig, Sr., who died serving his country in Vietnam.
Arrye graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Master's Degree in Nursing. Through the course of her career, she worked at Orangeburg Regional Hospital, in Orangeburg, SC, the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Long Beach, CA, and as a clinical nurse specialist for the Department of Health and Environmental Control in Columbia, SC.
She is survived by her brother, Mack Tant, and her four children, Betty Barber of Gleason, TN, Robert Craig, Jr. of Olathe, KS, Susan Dorr of Canton, GA, and Harriet Hughes of Branchville, SC. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, of which the family would like to recognize both Chevron Vice and Rachel Vice, who were active in her caretaking over the past few years. She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren, five grand-puppies and four great-grand puppies-Willie, Gizmo, Gracie, Gator, EJ, Gus, Hank, Zoey and Ben.
Funeral services will be held at the Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, SC on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends one hour before services. She will then be laid to rest at the Byrd Family Cemetery, in Branchville, SC.
