Billie Craven's Obituary
Smoaks
Billie Craven, 74 years of age, died Saturday March 13, 2021. Billie was born in Colleton Co. a son of the late David Craven Jr. He was a member of Berea Advent Christian Church. Billie retired from Palmetto Rural Telephone in 2001. He was home for three months and decided he needed to go back to work. He then joined the Colleton County School District. Billie loved working with the School District and all the employees, but his greatest passion was being with his family, especially his grandchildren either at home, on vacation, or going out to eat with them. He also enjoyed going to his granddaughter's softball games and being the side line umpire. He was real quick to make sure Rylan had his lessons done for the day. And he would have daily tasks for Aaron to do when he was off of work. Billie never met a stranger and he will be truly missed by his family and those that knew him.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Hagan Cemetery near Smoaks with Rev. Mike Lupo and Rev. Darryl Erwin officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00.
Billie is survived by his wife of 52 years Geraldine L. Craven, one daughter, Renee Craven Hiers (James) of Smoaks, three grandchildren, Jamilynn Hiers, and fiancé Aaron "Buddy" Ayer, and Rylan "Little Man" Hiers, his mother Sallie Mae Craven, four sisters, Judy Delisle of Charlotte, Vera Ketchum (Doug) of Walterboro, Sandra Kinard of Islandton, and Margaret Craven of Walterboro, one brother Paul Craven of Givhans, three brothers in law and four sisters in law, and a number of nieces and nephews.
