Mr. Buddy McArthur Lyons
Mr. Buddy McArthur Lyons, 81, of Smoaks, SC, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at his home, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, 12:00 noon, at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, SC. Services will be conducted by Mr. Edward Langston. The family will receive friends at 11:00 am, one hour before the services begin. Burial will follow at the Hagan Cemetery in Smoaks.
Pallbearers will be Wade Lyons, Jr., Todd Lyons, Jr., John Langston, Randy Lyons, Jamie Lyons, James Carter, III, Russell Bowen and Gabriel Stokes. Honorary pallbearers will be George Lyons, Tony Lyons and Paul Lyons.
Mr. Lyons was born on January 5, 1944, and was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. George Lyons and Martha (Linder) Lyons. He was an avid hunter, and a lifelong member of the Bull Bay Hunting Club, where he served as President for many years. He also enjoyed trapping, as well as playing and coaching softball. His greatest joy was his family, who affectionately knew him as "Pappy", and his many friends. He never met a stranger, and loved talking to everyone.
Mr. Lyons is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Mrs. Sara K. Strickland Lyons. Together they shared three sons, Todd Lyons, who preceded him in death; Buddy Lyons, Jr. "Bubba" and his wife Teresa; and Wade Lyons, Sr., and his wife Lynette, five grandchildren, Jennifer Etheredge (Chad Shuler), Todd Lyons, Jr. (Mandy Martin), Wade Lyons Jr., Sara Craven (Dallas) and George Lyons, nine great grandchildren, Victoria Webster (Jimmy), Aubrey Stokes (Gabriel), Russell Bowen, Abigail Etheredge, Briar Lyons, Emily Lyons, Katie Craven, Blake Craven, and Barrett Craven, and two great great grandchildren, Evelyn Webster and Braxton Stokes. He is also survived by his long time best friend, Ned Carter. The two friends spent many years traveling from state to state where they would buy, raise and sell, both chickens and hunting dogs.
Mr. Lyons is survived by a brother, Steve Lyons of Branchville. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Lyons, James Elzie "JE" Lyons, and Paul Lyons, as well as two sisters, Myrtle Lyons and Elizabeth Bunton.
