Carolyn Sprawls Bates' Obituary
Branchville
Mrs. Carolyn Sprawls Bates, 81 years of age, died Monday, August 16, 2010. Mrs. Bates was born in Barnwell Co., a daughter of the late Walton Sprawls and Ruth Weathersbee Sprawls. She was member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, was the widow of the late Louie E. Bates, and made her home in Branchville for over 60 years.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at 3:00 P.M., at Ott Cemetery, in Branchville, with Rev. Brian Gray officiating. The family will receive friends, one hour before services, at Ott Funeral Home, in Branchville. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay and husband, Ted Jackson, of Belmont, NC, and Allison and husband, Barry Berry, of Bowman, three sisters, Grace Williams of Kingsland, GA, Sara Ussery of Williston, SC, and Lou Ella Hunt of Columbia, SC, seven grandchildren, Eddie Woodward (Kim), Troy Woodward (Susan), Travis Woodward (Shea), William Jackson, Nikki Jackson, Tori Berry, and Cameron Berry. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Bates McCollum.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Laurel Baye Healthcare, in Orangeburg.
