Carolyn Watford Whetstone's Obituary
Branchville
Mrs. Carolyn Elizabeth Watford Whetstone, 81 years of age, died September 16, 2008 after an extended illness. Mrs. Whetstone Was born in Cordova December 31, 1926, a daughter of the late Lewis Samuel Watford and Annie Mae Bair Watford. She was the widow of the late Ernest Whetstone after 51 years of marriage. She was the co owner of The Whetstone Tax Service in Branchville, and the former co- owner of The Blu-Gas Company of Orangeburg, she attended the Cordova Schools, she was a member of The Branchville United Methodist Church where she served in various capacities over the years. In 1969 she helped her husband, who was the first President of Branchville Raylrode Daze Festival, with planning and coordinating of the first annual Festival.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday September 18, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of The Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, with the Rev. Gradie Corder officiating; entombment will be in The Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg. Pallbearers are Joe Whetstone, Andy Haigler, Todd Johnson, David Keitt, Travis Whetstone, and Ronnie Weathers.
Survived by two sons, Francis E Whetstone, Jr. (Sandy), and Charles Eric Whetstone, Four grandchildren, Carrie Whetstone Johnson (Todd), Stacie Whetstone Keitt (David), Erica Whetstone, and Travis Whetstone (Kristen), two great-grandchildren, Justin Johnson and Hayden Keitt, one brother, Homer Watford (Cora), two sisters, Sandra Watford Haigler (Adrian) and Linda Watford Clyburn (James), and a number of nieces and nephews. She preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Edward Watford, and one sister, Marjorie Watford Bradbury.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Shirley Kelly, Judy Sandifer, Joyce Spires, Hospice nurses and many others who helped the family, and a dear friend, Helen Wiles.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at The Chapel of The Ott Funeral Home in Branchville.
