Charles William Boltin's Obituary
Branchville
Charles William Boltin, 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Edisto Post-Acute in Orangeburg, SC. Charles was born on July 6, 1942 in Bamberg County, SC to the late Junior Mann Boltin and the late Eva Francis Boltin. Charles was an only child but he enjoyed many family times growing up with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in and around Branchville, Walterboro, and Charleston.
Charles was a graduate of Bamberg High School. After graduation, he had several local jobs but he finally settled into working with his Dad on the family farm. Charles was well liked by his community and had many friends. He was a lifelong and faithful member of Edisto Baptist Church.
Charles was an avid fisherman and hunter. Sometimes he would spend most of the day in his little boat fishing on the Edisto River. He also enjoyed kayaking on Botany Bay. Often he would go camping and hiking to the western North Carolina and South Carolina mountains whenever he had the opportunity. Charles really enjoyed watching and following certain sports teams, especially the Bamberg High School and the USC Gamecocks football teams. Charles was also a collector of sorts and enjoyed having his favorite things displayed throughout his house.
Charles was a kind and likable friend. He was always glad to have visitors come over and share stories and memories together. He especial loved sweets. Anytime someone would visit him with a pie or cake, he would always have a big smile on his face. Charles was not much of a cook, but he sure loved to eat his Southern favorites with a big glass of sweet tea at the local eateries.
As Charles' health began to decline, he much appreciated the friends and relatives who assisted him in so many ways. People would bring food, cut wood for his wood stove (until he finally got propane!), help him get to his doctor appointments and pick up his medicines just to mention a few. Then when he needed assisted care, he was moved to Edisto Post-Acute in Orangeburg, SC. His family would like to thank all those who gave Charles kind and compassionate care during his last days at Edisto Post-Acute, at Orangeburg Hospital and all those who ministered to him through Hospice.
Funeral services for Charles will be held at Edisto Baptist Church on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life service in the sanctuary at 11:00 AM. His Pastor, Jakie Walters, will be officiating at both services.
