Charles William Hodges, 78, of Colleton, SC, passed away on August 24, 2023, in Bamberg, SC. He was a proud family man, survived by his two sons, Charles W. Hodges Jr and wife Debbie of Goose Creek, SC, and Perry J. Hodges and wife Crystal of Smoaks, SC. Billy was also a loving grandfather to his six grandsons: Matthew Haner, Perry J Hodges Jr, Austin Hodges, Daniel Hodges, Zachary Hodges, and Ethan Hodges.
Charles, also known as "Billy", to everyone, was born on June 20, 1945, in Colleton, SC. He was a graduate of Bells High School and served in the US Navy. After his military service, he pursued a career as a Machinist in Rowesville, SC.
In his free time, Billy enjoyed watching Gamecock football. He was an avid fan and cherished the time spent cheering on his favorite team. Billy's dedication to his family and his passion for football were evident in the joy he found in watching the games.
Billy was a member of the United Methodist Trinity Church of Smoaks, SC. He found solace and community in his faith and the fellowship of his fellow church members.
A graveside service will be held at Tabernacle in Smoaks, SC, at 1:30 pm, with Reverend Kenny Nichols officiating. In honor of Billy's life, his grandsons will serve as pallbearers, escorting him to his final resting place.
Billy is survived by his sisters, Irene Broderick of Smoaks, SC, and Ann Carter of Williams, SC, as well as his brother Si Hodges from Beaufort, SC. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Jimmy Carter.
Billy Hodges will be remembered as a devoted family man, a proud Navy veteran, and a passionate Gamecock football fan. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
