Clarice Edwards Dukes' Obituary
Rowesville
Mrs. Clarice Edwards Dukes, 92, of Calhoun Convalescent Center, St. Matthews, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Cattle Creek United Methodist Church, Rowesville, with Rev. Curtis Felkel officiating. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before services. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Mrs. Dukes was born November 21, 1917, in Branchville to the late Walter and Rosalee Edwards. She was the widow of Dennis E. Dukes. Mrs. Dukes was a lifelong member of Cattle Creek U. M. Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her passion was working in her yard with her flowers and playing the piano.
Mrs. Dukes was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Godfrey and Margaret Waltz, three brothers, Malcolm, Lawrence, and Francis Edwards.
Survivors include three daughters, Jackie (Mack) Dantzler of Orangeburg, Peggy Smith, and Joanne (Mike) Lightfoot, one son John " Buckshot" ( Joan) Dukes, all of Rowesville. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Vicki (Kevin) Mears of Beaufort, grandsons, Dennis (Kristi) Branham and Jeffrey (Crystal) Dantzler of Branchville, Johnny (robin) Dukes of Rowesville, Danny (Fran) Dantzler of Orangeburg, Gene (Jodi) Lightfoot of Reevesville, one brother, Leonard (Robbie) Edwards of Branchville, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, from 6:00-8:00 P. M., at Ott Funeral Home, in Branchville. At other times, friends may call at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joanne Lightfoot, 1610 Cattle Creek Road, Rowesville.
