BranchvilleMr. David C. Byrd, 77 years of age, died Saturday April 4, 2009. Mr. Byrd was born in GA, a son of the late Marvin C. Byrd, and Dorothy Jones Byrd, and his was the widower of the late Margaret Byrd. He was retired from his family owned dry cleaning business, he graduated from Chicore high school in Charleston, and he had a great love for the outdoors.Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday April 8, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. from the chapel of Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, the family will receive friends one hour before services.Survived by his one son Shay Byrd, one daughter Crystal McAlhany, one step son, Ricky Sutcliffe all of Branchville, two sisters, Betty Sturvidant, and Dorothy Allen both of North Charleston, three grand children, Daniel McAlhany, Kirkland McAlhany, and Rachel Garrick, a number of nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Julia (Sissy) Byrd.He is preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Marvin Byrd, one brother-in-law, Marion Sturvidant.Family will receive friends at the home of Crystal McAlhany 4261 Cattle creek rd., and friends may call at the funeral home.
