Debbie "Spitfire" Lyons' Obituary
Debbie "Spitfire" Lyons of Branchville passed away surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at the age of 69.
Debbie was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, Little Nana (grandmother), and friend. She loved the Lord, her church, her family and friends, and was a devoted animal lover. She had a special bond with animals, and they were always drawn to her sweet spirit, a God-given characteristic she shared with her late son, Kevin.
She is survived by her daughter, Megan Shoemake (Shannon) of Smoaks, sister Patricia S. Judy of Branchville, sister Beverly S. Keating (Timothy) of Johns Island, sister Angie S. Stroud (Sandy & Sam) of Branchville, one grandson, Brice Shoemake and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin J. Miller, her mother Frances E. Smoak, and her father, Jacob F. Smoak. While she will be deeply missed by her family, we find peace in knowing she is now healed and reunited in heaven with her son, mother, and father in the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday May 13th @ 2PM at Hunters Chapel Baptist Church (9423 Hunters Chapel Road Bamberg 29003) with Rev Alvin Jeffcoat officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2pm.
Debbie's family asks that contributions be made to Hunters Chapel Baptist church to purchase a tree for the family to plant in her honor as she loved watching hummingbirds and hanging bird feeders. Flowers would also be welcomed.
