Dessie Pruitt Smith's Obituary
Branchville
Mrs. Dessie Pruitt Smith, 92 years of age, died Saturday April 17, 2010 in Aiken. Mrs. Smith was born in Anderson Co., a daughter of the late Charlie B. Pruitt and Dessie Hanks Pruitt. She was a member of Laurel Baptist church in West Columbia, a member of the WMU, and Joye Sunday School Class; she loved hunting, fishing, shooting, sewing, and reading. She was a lifelong resident of Branchville and was the widow of the late Horace Gordon Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at Branchville Baptist Church, with Rev. Steven Kittrell officiating. The casket will be placed in the church at 1:00 P.M., Burial will be in Tabernacle Cemetery, near Smoaks.
Survived by three daughters, Betty Smith of Branchville, Gloria Morris (Robert) of Lexington, and Gail Smith of Aiken, three sons, David Smith (Kathy) of Orangeburg, Gary Smith (Carole), and Gerald Smith (Shirley), both of Branchville, sixteen grand children, and a number of great grand, great great grand children, and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by one son, Gordon "Smitty" Smith, two sisters, six brothers, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, and at other times, friends may call at the home of Gary Smith, Bridge St., Branchville.
