Dianne Buck Dukes' Obituary

Dianne Buck Dukes, 68, passed away at her home, on Saturday, December 27, 2014, after having received a cancer diagnosis just over 2 months ago.
Dianne truly exemplified the qualities of a Proverbs 31 woman. She faithfully cared for her husband of almost 48 years, Colonel (Ret.) Luther "Luke" M. Dukes. She tended to her household well, lovingly providing for her two daughters & sons-in-law, Mark & Amy Rexrode of Anderson, SC and Billy & Debbie Hurst of Guatemala City, Guatemala. Her four grandchildren, Hannah, Luke, Bethany and Eden, were spoiled with sacrificial love by "the best Nana ever".
She was a Special Education teacher for over 23 years, teaching for the last 13 at Richard Carroll Elementary in Bamberg, SC. Dianne was an active member of over 14 churches, as she and her husband faithfully served in every city where they were stationed during his 25 years in the Air Force. She most recently served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member at Edisto Baptist Church in Branchville, SC.
Dianne was the daughter of the late George Irving Buck and Johanne Fairey Buck. She was born on September 20, 1946 in Hatboro, Pennsylvania and moved to Rowesville, SC at the age of 1. She was a 1964 graduate of Orangeburg High School, a 1968 graduate of Columbia College, and has a Master's Degree from USC. She is survived by her sister, Martha Jean Buck McCall, (Barry) of Pawley's Island, SC, and her brother, George Irving Buck, Jr. "Lucky", (Merle) of Orangeburg, SC.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28th from 6:00- 8:00pm, at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, SC. The funeral service will be held at Edisto Baptist Church on Monday, December 29th, at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the McAlhany Cemetery. Memorials for the Guatemalan Baptist Theological Seminary may be made to Billy Hurst, PO Box 116, Rowesville, SC 29133.
