Branchville
Anna Elaine Dukes, 71, of Steedly Street in Branchville, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Agape Hospice House in Columbia. Mrs. Dukes was born in Ruffin, the daughter of the late Lee Alton Hughes and Lounelle Anna Steedly Hughes. She was a lifelong resident of the Branchville Community and member of the Canaan Baptist Church.
She owned Dukes Florist and later Ceramics and Flowers in Branchville. She was a florist for over 35 years and an EMT with Branchville Rescue Squad for 14 years. She also worked for the US Postal Service. She loved to sing, and she loved her children, grandchildren, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville with the Rev. Charles Bradley and Allen Woodard officiating, at 2:00 pm, on Monday, May 14, 2018. The family will receive friends one hour before services. The family will also receive friends at the residence of Elaine Dukes and Kelsey Platt at 105 Steedly Road. She is survived by three daughters: Tammy D. Hunt (Terry) of Branchville, Kerri Goust (Ed Milligan) of Durham NC, and Wanda D. Fitzgerald (Tim) of Timberlake NC; three grandchildren raised as her own children from a very young age: Joshua Platt of Branchville, Kelsey Platt of Branchville, Katie (Juanita) Platt of Fayetteville, NC; eight grandchildren: Aireana Goust of Durham NC; TJ (Logan) Hunt of St. George and Stephen Hunt of Branchville; and Mason, Avery, Brady, Paige, and Landon Fitzgerald of Timberlake NC; two great grandsons, Brantley Platt and Jordan Hunt; an unborn great grandchild; and a number of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, LM Dukes, one daughter, Kimberly D. Platt of Branchville and one granddaughter, Faith Fitzgerald of Timberlake NC.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Platt, Tim, Mason, Avery, and Brady Fitzgerald; and Stephen Hunt. Memorials may be made to Ott Funeral Home, P.O. Box 96, Branchville SC 29432.
