Ethel Embree Walters' Obituary
Branchville
Ethel Embree Walters, 83 years of age, died Friday, November 27, 2009. Mrs. Walters was born in Charleston, a daughter of the late George G. Embree and Marie Kelly Embree. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Orangeburg. An avid reader, especially cookbooks, she loved traveling, sewing and knitting.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 30, 2009, at 11:00 A.M., at the chapel of Ott Funeral home, in Branchville, with Father Okere officiating.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joseph W. Walters, Sr. of Branchville, one daughter, Harriett W. Slezak, and husband, Norman, of Stanardsville, VA, two sons, Joseph W. Walters, Jr., and wife, Judith, of Lady's Island, SC and George Sidney Walters and wife, Nancy, of Branchville. She was known as "MaMa" to her fifteen grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by one brother, Charles Embree, and wife, Mary Jo, of Georgia, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty K. Driggers.
The family will receive friends Sunday, from 6 to 8 P.M., at Ott Funeral Home or friends may call at the residence at 841 Ott St. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to a special niece, Shelley Lindell, Tri-County Hospice, and caregiver, Sheree Misik.
Memorials may be made to Tri-County Hospice and SC Association for the Blind.
