Branchville
Mr. Floyd W. Wimberly, 90 years of age, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Wimberly was born in Orangeburg Co., a son of the late Clarence W. Wimberly and Geneva Nettles Wimberly. Mr. Wimberly was a lifelong member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. He was a past Master Mason of Bowman Masonic Lodge # 290, was on the Mt. Tabor Cemetery Committee, a member of Farm Bureau, Elks Lodge, was an avid hunter, and a co-founder of Sandy Run Hunting Club, a lifelong farmer, and resident of the Cattle Creek Community.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 11:00 A.M., at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, with Rev. Brian Gray, and Rev. Bobby Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full Masonic rites. The casket will be placed in the church at 10:00 A.M. Pallbearers will be Beth W. Berry, Thad Wimberly, Eddie Easterling, Mark Easterling, Donnie Looper, Tyler Looper, and Jonathan Berry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bowman Masonic Lodge #290.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Evelyn S. Wimberly, one son Harry F. Wimberly (Reka) and one daughter Hazel W. Looper (John Reid) both of Branchville, one sister Mattie Mae Brodie of Augusta GA, six grandchildren, Beth W. Berry (Jonathan), H. Thad Wimberly (Jennifer), Donnie Looper, (Lisa), Chad Looper, (Amanda), Eddie Easterling, and Mark Easterling (Renae), fourteen great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Bell Mosley, Vesta Judy, Ruth Shuman, and two brothers, Raymond Wimberly and Mervin Peters. The Family would like to extend a special thanks to his hospice nurses, Tammie and Rose, for their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 P.M., at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville; memorials may be made to Grove Park Hospice, 1324 Grove Park NE, Orangeburg, SC 29115, or Mt. Tabor Cemetery fund, c/o Vivian Kizer, 1116 Flat Woods Rd., Reevesville, SC, 29471.
