Mrs. Frances Rudd "Monkey" Lyons, 55 years of age, died Saturday, January 31, 2015. Mrs. Lyons was born in Bamberg, a daughter of the late Hubert Rudd Sr. and Mary Ida Hall Rudd. Frances was a loving mother and grandmother, and a generous free spirit that loved flowers and the outdoors. She was continuously surrounded by family and grandchildren. Monkey loved flea markets and yard sales. She never met a stranger.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at 11:00 A.M., at South End Cemetery in Bamberg, with Rev. J.E. Lyons officiating.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Stephen J. Lyons, two sons, Joe Frank Grooms (Dina), and Joseph Richard "Smokey" Grooms (Tina), three daughters, Tammy Chavis (Al), Cyndi Beard, and Stephanie Chavis (Oliver), three brothers, Herbert "Pookey" Rudd (Kandy), Hubert "Bubba" Rudd Jr., and Howard Rudd (Michelle), four sisters, Susie Zorn (Tony), Nancy Zorn (Kenneth), Mary Jane Zorn (John), and Julie Ann Dyches (Buddy). She also survived by twelve grandchildren, Joe, Taylor, Renea, Jacob, and Holly Grooms, Jeffery, Preston, Daniel, Christopher, and Zachary Chavis, Nathan and McKinley Beard, four great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 6 to 8 P.M., at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville; at other times, friends may call at the residence.
