Fred Wallace Collins' Obituary
Branchville
Fred Wallace Collins, 79 years of age, passed away at his residence on February 17, 2015. He was born in Orangeburg County, a son of Claffy W. Collins and Lily Marie Collins. He was a lifelong member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Bowman.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 19, 2015, with Rev. Bobby Ethridge officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ruth Collins, two daughters, Diane (Mel) Clarke and Donna (Brian) Szakovits, three step sons, Billy, Sandy, and Scott Stroud, and many foster children. Four grandchildren, Chris (Melissa) Bair, Jason (Caryn) Bair, Phillip Griffin, and Sunny Smith, and three great grandchildren, Nathan Bair, Maci Smith, and Riley Griffin also survive. He leaves four brothers, L.C. Collins, David (Henrietta) Collins, Harry (Linda) Collins, and Phil (Susan) Collins; also two sisters, Dolly Metts and Vianna (Jerry) Snelgrove. He is preceded in death by a sister, Vida Mae Dantzler.
He was retired from the Navy Shipyard in Charleston. He spent his adult life raising other people's children.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville.
