Gary Douglas Smith's Obituary
Branchville
Mr. Gary Douglas Smith, 71 years of age, died Saturday, April 4, 2015. Mr. Smith was born in Colleton Co., a son of the late Horace Gordon Smith and Dessie Rachel Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Edisto Baptist Church where he was very active; he loved cooking, gardening, and reading. Mr. Smith served in the United States Air Force, and loved participating in the foreign student exchange program. He was also a proud member of the NRA.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 9, 2015, at 2:00 P.M., at Edisto Baptist Church of Branchville, with Rev. Jakie Walters officiating. Burial will be in Tabernacle Cemetery near Smoaks.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carole Grenawalt Smith, one son, Gary "Rusty" Smith Jr. (Lisa) of Lexington, one daughter, Tina M. Smith, of Branchville, two brothers, Gerald Smith of Branchville and David Smith of Orangeburg, three sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Branchville, Gail Smith of Aiken, and Gloria Morris of Lexington. He is preceded in death by one brother, Gordon Horace Smith "Sonny".
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 8, 2015, from 6 to 8 P.M. at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville; at other times, friends may call at the residence. Memorials may be made to Edisto Baptist Church Building Fund, 4831 Edisto River Rd., Branchville, SC, 29432.
