Harold Gene Cooner Jr.'s Obituary
Harold Gene Cooner Jr62 of Orangeburg passed away unexpectedly on March 09. Hal was the son of Harold Gene Cooner Sr. of Bamberg and the late Betty Altman Hester of Branchville. He is survived by his stepfather, Joe Hester of Branchville, niece Jaime Kay Cisco(Brian), nephew TC (Jennifer) Cooner both of Charleston and a number of cousins. Hal was preceded in death by his grandparents Stacey(Lottie) Altman of Branchville and Harold(Vera) Cooner of Bamberg , his brother Mayor Tim Cooner of Branchville and beloved aunts, especially his Aunt Shelby Jean Metts.
Hal was a graduate of Branchville High School and Orangeburg Beauty School. Hal owned and operated Halz Salon for over 30 years in which he made friendships that he cherished. Hal was a talented pianist and organist. Many can't think of Hal without the thought of a delicious cake. Hal was happiest cooking in his kitchen or on the phone with friends for hours.
Family will accept friends at the home of Mr. Joe Hester, 1391 Edwards Street, Branchville. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Ott Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral Monday, March 18,2024 at Ott Cemetery in Branchville at 11:00. Funeral will be at 12:00.
