Harold W. Mikel, 79 years of age, died Sunday, January 31, 2016. Harold was born in Danville ILL., a son of the late Delbert W. Mikel and Myrtle Maxine Ritter Mikel. He was retired from the United States Navy after serving 22 years of submarine service; he was a former police chief for the town of Branchville; he worked for the city of Charleston as a motor cycle police officer for 15 years and state constable for MUSC for seven years. He loved to hunt and fish and was the widower of the late Mary Alice Mikel.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 12:00 P.M., at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery, in Bowman, with Rev. Cory Leggett officiating.
He is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Ann Mikel of Ridgeville, Michelle Mikel Alexander of Ladson, and Melinda Sue Cates (Cris) of Hanahan, 6 grandchildren Daniel L. Mikel, Chelsea Davis Mikel, Chelsea L. Trotter, Aaron R. Cates, Justin W. Alexander, and Mary N. Cates, and three great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 3, 2016, from 6 to 8 P.M., at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans Victory House, 2461 Sidneys Rd., Walterboro, SC, 29488.
