Branchville
Mr. Harry "Doc" Harriott, 77 years of age, died Monday, November 23, 2009, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Mr. Harriott was born in Hampton Co., a son of the late Heyward Harriott and Carrie Chesser Harriott. Mr. Harriott was a member of the Omar Shriners, Branchville Masonic Lodge #110 A.F.M., and Rivelon Baptist Church in Orangeburg. He was also a member of the 700 Club. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years. He was a retired captain from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department, the U.S. Marshall Service, and retired Police Chief of the Branchville Police Department. He loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and his pet," Buddy."
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November, 25, 2009, at 2:00 P.M., at the chapel of Ott Funeral Home, in Branchville, with Rev. Wayne Manning and Rev. Larry Williams conducting the service. Burial will be in Ott Cemetery, in Branchville, with full Masonic rites. Pallbearers are grandsons, Scott Harriott, Ben Harriott, Charles Ashmore, David Hunt, Cary Harriott, and Ronnie Weeks.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Brenda Weeks Harriott, three sons, Ervin R. Harriott and wife, Cheryl, of Estill, Robert S. Harriott and wife, Ophie, of Cross, and Curtis Harriott and wife, Norma, of Weathers TX., two daughters, Freda J. Wiedmeyer and husband, Vince, of West Bend, WI., and Patty J. Hunt and husband, Billy, of Elgin. He is also survived by four step- children, Timmy and Terry Weeks, Rhonda Headden, all of Cordova, and Brooke Spivey of NC. He has three surviving sisters, Myrt Cook, Jodie Proveaux and Dorothy Reeves, 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harriott was preceded in death by two brothers, Heyward Harriott Jr. and Woodrow Harriott.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
