Branchville
Mr. Henry Eugene "Gene" McAlhany, 76 years of age, died Wednesday October 17, 2018 at home, Gene was born in Branchville, a son of the late Roy S. McAlhany and Floydell T. McAlhany. He enjoyed horseback riding, farming, spending time outside and one of his greatest loves was spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of Branchville Baptist Church; he served in the National Guard, and was retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard in the Rigger Shop, and Orangeburg County. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday October 20, 2018, at 2:00 P.M., at Branchville Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Mims and Rev. Tim Shaw and Rev. Jakie Walters officiating, the casket will be placed in the church at 1:00 P.M.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jennie May McAlhany, two daughters Karen Drawdy (Brad) of Edisto Island, and Sharon (Smith) McAlhany of Gilbert, one brother Roy Lawrence McAlhany (Dana) of Branchville, three grandsons, Adam Smith, Luke and John Drawdy, one nephew Cameron McAlhany and three nieces, Emilee and Heidi Edwards, and Reagan McAlhany.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, and at other times friends may call at the residence. Memorials may be made to Branchville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 116 Branchville, SC 29432, or Boys Farm, P.O. 713 Newberry, SC 29108-0713.
