Branchville
Mr. James W. "J.W." McAlhany, 80 years of age, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at his residence. Mr. McAlhany was born in Branchville, a son of the late Theodore J. McAlhany, and Esther Hutto McAlhany. Mr. McAlhany was a member of Branchville Christian Church, a retired heavy equipment operator, and had a great passion for his garden, that he generously shared with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 3:00 P.M., at the Branchville Christian Church, with Rev. Jerry Thompson and Rev. Wayne Manning officiating. Burial will be in the McAlhany Cemetery in Branchville.
J.W. is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Edna M. McAlhany, one daughter, Tammy Brunson (Chris) of Branchville, one brother Gerald McAlhany (Miriam) of Walterboro, three sisters, Louise Berry of Reevesville, Sallie Beth Thomas, and Deloris Wolfe, both of Branchville, four grandchildren, Dr. April Spitz (Ricky), Tabitha Johnson (Andrew), Jesse Bozard (Brandy), Brice Brunson, seven great grand children, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son Jimmy McAlhany, one brother, Furman McAlhany, and one sister, Julia Ray Crosby.
The family will receive friends Friday, from 6 to 8 P.M., at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville; at other times friends may call the residence. The family would like to give a special thanks to Angelina Brunson, and Dominic Profit, with United Hospice. Memorials can be made to the Branchville Christian Church, or the charity of one's choice.
