James c. "Jimmie" Strickland

Mr. James c. "Jimmie" Strickland, 77 years of age, died Thursday, December 8, 2011. Mr. Strickland was born in Smoaks, SC, a son of the late Samuel Cecil Strickland, and Myrtice Carter Strickland. He was a member of Smoaks Masonic Lodge and Walterboro Eastern Star #147; he retired from civil service at Charleston Air Force Base in 1988 and served in the US Navy. He attended Berea Advent Christian Church. He enjoyed his retirement, was an avid fisherman, and loved spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 11, 2011, at 2:00 P.M., at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, with Rev. Travis Hutcheson officiating. Burial will follow in the Strickland Cemetery near Smoaks. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 6 to 8 P.M. at Ott Funeral Home.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen L. Strickland of Moncks Corner and Ceci Pefley (John) of Fredericksburg, VA, 6 siblings, Marsha "Fan" Jernigan, Martha Mazyck, Johnny Strickland, Kevin Strickland (Sherry), Symmie Strickland, all of Smoaks, and Gwen Caldwell of Charleston. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Gavin, Morgan, and Molly Pefley, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Ladelle Strickland.
