Bowman
Jane W. Herndon, wife of William H. Herndon Sr., 79 years of age, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Mrs. Herndon was born in Bowman, a daughter of the late George J. Westberry and Martha Marie Westberry. She loved gardening, canning foods, and worked at Koyo, in Orangeburg, for many years, missing only one day of work.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Prospect Southern Methodist Church, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Jim Bogstad officiating. Burial will follow at Rigby Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Billy, of 64 years, two, daughters, Deborah (Terry) Fleet, and Janice Simpkins, all of Bowman, ten grandchildren, and twenty five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son, William Heyward Herndon Jr. and three brothers.
Visitation will be held at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. At other times, friends and family may call at the residence. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee or the charity of one's choice.
