Mrs. Jeanette Padgett Benson, 79 years of age, died Saturday, December 12, 2009. Mrs. Benson was born in Smoaks, a daughter of the late Sheppard Gruber Padgett and Pernell Crosby Padgett. She loved reading and writing poetry.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at 11:00 A.M., at the chapel of Ott Funeral Home, in Branchville. The family will receive friends one hour before services. The burial will be in Hagan Cemetery, near Smoaks.
She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Jones and husband, Charles, of Charleston, Peggy Cooper of Columbia, Robin Tillery and husband, Randy, of Rock Hill, one son, Robert Williams of Columbia, one sister, Nora Dean Mahaffey and husband, Jim, of Conway. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
