John Clifton Valentine, 78 years of age, passed away at his residence on October 7, 2013. Mr. Valentine was retired from AYP and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr Valentine was born in Bamberg County, the son of the late John David and Fannie Mae Hughes Valentine. He is survived by his wife, Berdine Knight Valentine. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Pearlie Estelle Valentine. He is survived by 4 sons, Billy Valentine ( Linda), Jeff Valentine (Tammy), both of Branchville, Willis Smith (Robette) of Elloree and Ray Smith of Cordova. Surviving also are 3 daughters, Kathy Rivers (Bill) and Brenda Valentine of Branchville, Ann Hutchins (Ken) of Johnston, sister in law, Rosetta Jones (Paul) of Sumter and daughter in law, Tina Smith of Elloree. He is survived by 3 brothers, Ernest Vallentine (Barbara) of Branchville, Jackie Valentine (Dora) of Orangeburg, and Donald Hugo Valentine (Frances Bailey) of Branchville, and one sister Rosemary McAlhany (Claude) of Branchville. He leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son ,David Byron Smith, and a brother, Bobby Valentine. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 3:00 PM, October 10, 2013, at Branchville Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Mims and Rev. Walter Gleaton officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville. The family would like to express gratitude to special caregivers at Regency Hospice and grandson, Devin Valentine: Also Dorn Veterans Hospital.
