Joseph Odell McAlhany's Obituary
Reevesville
Mr. Joseph (J.O.) McAlhany, 85 years of age, husband of Yvonne M. McAlhany, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. McAlhany was born May 1, 1929, in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Mr. Joe McAlhany and the late Mrs. Vickie W. McAlhany.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by four daughters, Carolyn V. Barar, Charleston, Jo Ann (Jerry) Montgomery, Bamberg, Natalie (Greg) Gruber, Bowman, Cindy (Ronnie) McClure, Reevesville, eleven grandchildren, Joshua (Miranda) Montgomery, Jackie M. (Clint) Fuchs, Lindsey G. (Scott) Chatterton, Cari G.(Jessea) James, Sarah & Amy Gruber, Kaitlin, Haley & Myers McClure, Michael (Ashley C.) Puckhaber, Ashley Puckhaber. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Kaiden & Stella James, Anna Cate & Ally Chatterton, Abby Fuchs, and Paisley & Dillon Montgomery. He leaves four sisters, Mrs. James (Gin) Preacher, Ruffin, Mrs. William (Molly) Holman, Branchville, Mrs. David (Nancy) Harbeson, Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Charles (Beverly) Berry, Branchville and two brothers Norman (the late Shirley) McAlhany, Orangeburg and Richard (Margaret) McAlhany, Branchville, and a number of nieces and nephews, and a dedicated nephew, Doug Cressette (Jo Griffeth) of Monks Corner. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Gruber, and a sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Catherine) Connelly, Reevesville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Ott Funeral Home, Branchville, S.C. Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church near Bowman, with the Rev. Bobby Etheridge and Rev. Corey Leggett officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Montgomery, Myers McClure, Clint Fuchs, Jessea James, Everette McAlhany, Wade McAlhany, and Kelvin McAlhany
