Lorraine B. Edwards (June 11, 1937 - September 7, 2024)
Lorraine B. Edwards, beloved mother to Sharon Bailey (Pete), Ralph Fred Edwards and William Edwards (Gina), 87, passed away September 7, 2024, surrounded by her three loving children. Lorraine was the daughter of the late Ernestine and Raymond Barnes of Ehrhardt and the wife of the late Ralph O. Edwards of Branchville. She leaves a void her family cannot fill.Lorraine was a retired principal of Branchville High School. Her professional journey spanned 33 years, where she was a secretary, teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal and principal. She earned a Bachelor of Business Degree with a minor in Economics, from Winthrop University in 1959 and a Master of Education from the University of South Carolina in 1974. She started her teaching career at St. George High School in 1959 and excepted a position at Branchville High School in 1962. Lorraine touched the lives of many students during her years as a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal and principal. She offered guidance and support to her students and staff. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Church in Ehrhardt.Lorraine loved to cook and it's no surprise she won the Betty Crocker Award in her senior year at Lodge High School. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and loved watching her birds. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for everyone. Granny Raine loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren and left them with wonderful memories.Lorraine is survived by her three children Sharon Bailey (Pete) of Moncks Corner, Ralph Fred Edwards of Branchville and William Edwards (Gina) of Cope, her brother Ray (Alice) Barnes of Ehrhardt, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernestine and Raymond Barnes, her husband of 62 years, Ralph O. Edwards, her brother Jimmy Barnes and her beloved grandson Ray Edwards.The family would like to thank the wonderful group of care givers.Funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Ott Funeral on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville. Honored to server as Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Austin Edwards, Will Edwards, Vance Bailey, Dylan Edwards, Alvin Fode, David Dangerfield and Eric McDaniel.
