Marie "Libby" Street's Obituary
Branchville
Marie Elizabeth (Libby) Byrd Street passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. She was born in Branchville, the only child of Norman E. Byrd and Marion Heape Byrd; she lived in Branchville for most of her life. She graduated from Winthrop College and taught school in Elloree, Branchville, and Cordova. She was a lifelong member of Branchville United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and church historian. She was a charter member of Branchville Shrine and Museum, serving as secretary for several years. She helped with Branchville's Railroad Daze Festival at its beginning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Calhoun (Cally) Street Jr. She is survived by her children, John C. Street III of Texas, and Marianna Byrd Street of Branchville. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Johnny Street and Jessica Clark Street, a cousin, Virginia Byrd Dowis, and a number of nieces and one nephew.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Ott Funeral Home, from 5:00-7:00PM. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 29, 2011, at 3:00 PM, at Branchville United Methodist Church, with Reverends Grady Corder and Mike Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Branchville United Methodist Church, PO Box 87, Branchville, SC, 29432.
