Mario A Vargas' Obituary
Rev. Mario Vargas CAMDEN - Rev. Mario Vargas, 77, passed away March 17, 2016. He was born April 10, 1938, in Sonsonte, El Salvador, to the late Isaias Vargas and Margarita Arrazate Vargas. He studied at the Baptist Seminary in Mexico City, Mexico, and the Hispano-American Seminary in Los Angeles, California. Over the course of 50 years, he pastored churches in El Salvador, California, North Carolina, Arkansas, and South Carolina. His passion was spreading the gospel through mission trips to El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, and the migrant ministries in Beaufort, SC. Mario is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sylvia Vargas, three children, Janet (Pat) Riordan, David (Roxanna) Vargas, and John (Lisa) Vargas, and one grandchild, Alex. Mario is also survived by his two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26th at 3:00 PM at the First Hispanic Baptist Church, 7915 Percival Road, Columbia, S.C.
