Mattie Mae Brodie's Obituary
Branchville
Mrs. Mattie Mae Brodie, 100 years of age, of Branchville and Augusta, entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2013, at Westwood Nursing home in Augusta, after a brief illness. Mrs. Brodie was born in Orangeburg Co. on April 18, 1913, a daughter of the late Clarence and Sadie Mae Wimberly. She was retired from Manhattan Shirt Co., in Charleston. She had been the notable subject of a national article about working at the Charleston Navel Shipyard during WWII, as a representative of all of the women who contributed to the war effort.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 18, 2013, at 2:00 P.M., at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville. The family will receive friends one hour before services. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Charleston.
She is survived by her son, John Brodie, daughter-in-law, Kim, grandsons, John and Sean, granddaughter-in-law, Ashley, great grandchildren, Tyler and Serena.
