Mrs. Miriam Robertson Fender, 81 years of age, wife of Paul Fender, departed this life on April 4, 2014, at the Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg, SC.
Funeral services will be held 4:00,PM, Monday, April 7, 2014, at Ott Funeral Home, 7305 Freedom Road, Branchville, SC, with Rev. Jack Padgett officiating. The family will receive friends at 3:00 PM, one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Smoaks Baptist Church Cemetery, Smoaks, SC.
Miriam was born on January 9, 1933, in Smoaks, SC, to Purdy and Edith (Wood) Robertson. She lived all of her life in Smoaks; she was a member of the Smoaks Baptist Church and was retired from the Colleton County School District.
Miriam's life will best be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her first priority was always the care and welfare of her husband, daughter, and grandson. She possessed unconditional love for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, a daughter, Paulette Blackwell, son-in-law, Michael Blackwell, and grandson, Derek Rush, two sisters, Patricia (Cecil) Jones, Delores Barrs, and a number of nieces and nephews, and her beloved pet, Dallas.
The family is grateful to the Oaks staff, physicians, medical staff, and nursing assistants for their loving care and concern.
