Branchville
Mrs. Miriam Shuler Ott Smoak, 80 years of age, died Saturday, September 13, 2014. Mrs. Smoak was born in Providence, a daughter of the late Furman E. and Hazel M. Shuler. Mrs. Smoak was a member of the Branchville Baptist Church; she was the widow of her first husband, Allen C. Ott Sr. Miriam was one of the few women in life who found two soul mates.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 3 P.M., at Branchville Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Shaw and Rev. Bobby Etheridge officiating; burial will be in Ott Cemetery in Branchville. Pallbearers will be Don Smoak Jr., Justin Ott, Kevin Thomas, Robert Smoak, Samuel Bernstel, and Michael Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Augustus (Pete) Smoak, three sons, Allen C. Ott (Sandie), David L. Ott (Sheri), and Mark B. Ott (Wendy), three daughters, Miriam Ann Spires (Bryan), Patricia Smoak, and Frances Collins (Danny). She is also survived by one sister, Mildred Shuler, 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smoak is preceded in death by two children, Don Smoak Sr., and Carol S. Rast, one brother, Edward Shuler, and one sister, Grace Griffin.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 P.M., at Ott Funeral Home, in Branchville. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 1531 Hunting Rd., Branchville. Online condolences can be made at www.ottfh.com Ott Funeral Home in Branchville is in charge of arrangements.
