Nancy Gail Smith's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy "Gail" Smith. She was called into the loving arms of our Father on June 22, 2025, at the age of 80. She was a treasured sister, aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Gail was born on May 29,1945 in Bamberg County, SC to H. Gordon and Dessie P. Smith. She graduated from Branchville High School in 1963. She tried her hand at Cosmetology for a while, then left that to join the army in 1977. She served for 11 years including a 2-year tour of duty in Germany. She was medically discharged in 1988 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. She then went to nurses training and after completion became a nurse for a few years. She retired from that profession due to health issues.
Gail enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.
Gail is survived by a brother, Gerald B. Smith, and his wife Marsha Smith, and a sister, Gloria F. Morris and husband Bob Morris, as well as a sister-in-law, Carole Smith and many well-loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, H. Gordon Smith & Dessie P. Smith; brothers Gordon H. "Smitty" Smith, David A. Smith, and Gary D. Smith; and sister Elizabeth A. "Betty" Smith. Also, many thanks to her awesome care giver during her last days, Tessica Willis.
Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, S. C. will be assisting the family.
Services will be held on June 25, 2025, in Bowman, S. C. at the Bowman First Baptist Church located at 6605 Charleston Highway, Bowman, SC, 29018. Reverend Steve Scott will be officiating. A meal will be provided for the family at 11:30 AM. Receiving Friends will begin at 1:00 PM with service at 2:00 PM. There will be a Military Guard present to honor Gail attending the services.
