Neville Harris Knight's Obituary
Neville Harris Knight, 87 years old of Branchville, SC went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Neville was born in St. George, SC, on April 27, 1939. He was the son of the late David L. Knight and Effie Mae Rickenbaker Knight. He graduated from St. George High School in 1957, briefly spent time at the University of Georgia and served in the United States Army for 2 years, spending time in Germany during his tour. After serving he went to work at the Charleston Naval Shipyard where he worked for 35 years and retired as a Foreman Welder in Shop 26 in the nuclear division and then went on to work for Weathers Farms in later years. Neville was an active member of Branchville Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and a Trustee at various times and was a member of the Grimes Horton Sunday School class. If he was able; he was always present and ready to help his family, friends and neighbors.
Neville is survived by his daughter, Florence Michelle Knight and son in love Gene Lightfoot of Branchville, SC; daughter Marion Gwyn Knight of Staunton, VA; grandchildren, Joshua Harrison Knight of Las Vegas, NV; Kaylee Ford Bibler (Preston) of West Ashley, SC and Gracelyn Elaine Mercer of North Charleston, SC and great granddaughter Preslee Mae Bibler of West Ashley, SC. He is also survived by siblings David L. (Ann) Knight of Harleyville, SC; Raymond (Dale) Knight of St. George, SC; and Deloris K. (Ernest) Jackson of Grover, SC as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Fairey Knight; his sister Aileen K. Lloyd; brother-in-law Wonnie L. Lloyd; sister-in-law Doris R. Knight; stepmother Louise Wimberly Knight; and step siblings Terry W. Wimberly; Rae W. Way and Joy W. Kizer.
Services will be Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Branchville Baptist Church at 3:00PM with burial at Sardis Cemetery in Branchville, SC. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. The family will also receive friends at the home of Gene and Michelle Lightfoot, 6743 Freedom Road, Branchville, SC 29432.
The family would like to thank A Village Home Care and Circle of Love for the care provided to our dad and especially thank Mrs. Isabella Way and Miss Belinda Wright for the time they spent with our dad.
