Smoaks
Mr. Paul Fender, 87 years of age, husband of the late Miriam Robertson Fender, entered into eternal rest on April 21, 2019, at the Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg, SC.
Funeral services will be held 4:00,PM, Wednesday , April 24, 2019, at Ott Funeral Home, 7305 Freedom Road, Branchville, SC, with Rev. Jack Padgett officiating. The family will receive friends at 3:00 PM, one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Smoaks Baptist Church Cemetery, Smoaks, SC.
Paul was born on January 21, 1932, in Smoaks, SC, to Junior Fender and Eva Hiott Fender. He lived all of his life in Smoaks; he was a lifelong member of the Smoaks Baptist Church, he was a member of Smoaks Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Omar Shrine Temple. He was the Town Clerk, Water and Environmental System Operator for the Town of Smoaks for 50 years, and a former Council Member. Paul was retired from the SC National Guard with 43 years of service. He retired with the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
Paul's life will best be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He possessed unconditional love for his family and friends.
He is survived a daughter, Paulette Blackwell, son-in-law ,Michael Blackwell, and grandson, Derek Rush, one brother, Rudy Fender, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to the Oaks Staff, physicians, medical staff, and nursing assistants for their loving care and concern.
Memorials may be made to the Smoaks Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Smoaks SC, 29481, or the charity of one's choice.
