Retha Hewitt Lewis' Obituary
Orangeburg
Mrs. Retha Hewitt Lewis, 99 years of age, died Thursday June 14, 2007. Mrs. Lewis was born in Nichols, SC, a daughter of the late Daniel Hewitt, and Amanda Duncan Hewitt. She was the widow of the late Ernest Lewis. She loved gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday June 18, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at The Ott Cemetery in Branchville on Cemetery Road with Dr. Richard Porter officiating. A celebration of life for Mrs. Lewis will follow services at the Ott Funeral Home.
Survived by 4 daughters: Johnnie Rodrigue of Florence; Doris L. Irick of Orangeburg; Elsie Fogle (Ozzie) of Orangeburg; Louise Hughes (Mason) of Orangeburg; 5 sons: Dan D. Lewis (Linda) of Chester, VA; Tom Lewis (Janet) of Idaho Falls, ID; Jerry Lewis (Glenda) of Orangeburg; James Lewis (Carol) of Reeseville; and Rufus Lewis (Angie) of Barnwell. She was survived by 29 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren and 4 special caretakers. She was preceded in death by 2 sons: Carl Lewis and Bob Lewis.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 17, 2007 from 5 to 7 P.M. at The Ott Funeral Home in Branchville.
