Roger Walker Rhoad, Sr., 67, of Branchville passed away on Thursday, October 28th.
Roger was born on July 27, 1954, to the late Thomas and Chessie Rhoad. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home; his son, Rusty (April) Rhoad of Branchville; his daughter, Amanda (Lee) Strother of Columbia; grandchildren, Lindsey and Colton Rhoad, Layla and Leslee Strother, Chesney Clark, and Harbor Urban; a brother, Fred (Debbie) Rhoad of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Kim (Randy) Berry of Edisto Beach and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and one brother, Tom Rhoad, III.
Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved Clemson Tiger football, and was an extraordinary storyteller.
A barbeque lunch in his honor will be held at 12:30 on Sunday, October 31st at the home of Rusty and April Rhoad, 113 Tobacco Road, Branchville, with remarks by the Reverend Dale Hutto followed by interment at the family cemetery at Turkey Pen.
Serving as pallbearers are Randon Berry, Billy Kemp, Skeeter Ott, Perry Hutto, Alan Rhoad, and Frankie Murdock. Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Roland and James Brown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made at autismspeaks.org or to M.A.M.A.S. Animal Shelter in Bamberg.
