In Loving Memory of Roy Lawrence McAlhany
Lawrence, age 79, of Branchville, SC passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Lawrence was a devoted husband, father, and friend whose kindness, integrity, and work ethic left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. For 25 years, he worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. After his retirement, he found great joy in life on the farm, tending to his hay fields and taking pride in the simple, steady rhythm of country living.
He shared 27 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dana Hood McAlhany, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. He was a proud father to Cameron McAlhany and Reagan McAlhany, who were the light of his life and his greatest accomplishments. He got married and had children late in life but lived a full life. He traveled lots enjoying each experience.
Lawrence will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering honesty, and his deep love for family and the land. He enjoyed quiet evenings looking at his hay fields, watching westerns and time spent with those he loved most. In his earlier years he loved riding and breaking horses. His legacy of hard work and love of his family and God will remain forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife, Dana H. McAlhany his children, Cameron McAlhany and Reagan McAlhany, a special son-in-law, Kadden Irick, mother-in law, Joanne Hood, brother- in-law Mark Hood (Codie), Sister- in-law, Jennie McAlhany, two nieces Sharon McAlhany Drafts (Kenny) and Karen McAlhany Drawdy. three great nephews, Adam Smith, Luke and John Drawdy. As well as two special friends Jeffrey and Brenda Fogle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Floydell McAlhany and his brother Gene McAlhany and father-in-law Nathan Hood.
A funeral service will be held on November 24, 2025 at Cattle Creek Community Church, 122 Campground Circle, Rowesville, SC at 2:00pm. Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories and celebrate a life well lived one hour (1:00pm) before the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Alzheimer's Research Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Lawrence.
