Thomas L. Winfield's Obituary
Branchville
Mr. Thomas Lafayette Winfield Jr., 85 years of age, died Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Mr. Winfield was born in Branchville, a son of the late Thomas Lafayette Winfield Sr., and Marie Smoak Winfield. Mr. Winfield was a member of the Branchville Baptist Church. He was a decorated veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he was a member of the Branchville Masonic Lodge #110 A.F.M., Scottish Rite, Omar Shrine, and the Omar Safety Patrol. Mr. Winfield was also retired from Savannah River Plant, and a lifelong resident of the community.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 11:00 A.M., at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville, with Rev. Jakie Walters, Rev. Steve Mims, and Rev. David Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Ott Cemetery in Branchville.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Alice Dunn Winfield of Branchville, one daughter, April Winfield Walters (Jakie) of St. George, one brother, Robert S. Winfield (Ann) of Conway, three grandchildren, Cory Winfield Jarrett of James Island, Adam Thomas Jarrett (Erin) of Mt. Pleasant, and Rachel Marie Walters of St. George, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, David Thomas Winfield, and one sister, Sarah W. Noel.
The family will receive friends Friday, from 6 to 8 P.M., at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville. Memorials may be made to the Branchville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 116 Branchville SC 29432.
