Wilhelmina W. Westberry's Obituary
Elsie Wilhelmina Wimberly Westberry, widow of William Lamar (Bill) Westberry, 100, ofBowman, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 25, 2025, at The Oaks Post Acute inOrangeburg.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2025, at Prospect SouthernMethodist Church of Branchville with Pastor Jim Bogstad and Rev. Robert Etheridgeofficiating.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the church. Pallbearers willbe Coy Arant, Tommy Arant, Teddy Britt, Jimmy Crook, Douglas Crook, Tyler Walters,Brad Westberry and Joshua Westberry. Burial will follow at Rigby Cemetery Bowman.Wilhelmina was born on October 7, 1924 in the rural Mt. Zion Community outside of St.George, a daughter of the late David Lee "Bub" Wimberly and Zadie Irene SmithWimberly. She was retired from Bowcar Manufacturing in Bowman and also farmedmany years with her husband Bill.
Wilhelmina, or "Wiltz" to friends and family, lived a life of faith, family, perseverance,and hard work. She was the oldest church member of Prospect Southern MethodistChurch where she was the choir director for many years. She enjoyed watchingfootball and spending many days on her front porch crocheting caps to share withhospitals, schools, cancer centers, family and friends, and also baby blankets for thenewest members of the family. She called it her "finger work" and always gave Godthe glory for blessing her with the ability to make and share her handmade treasures.She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; daughter, Billie Jean W.Arant; grandson, Jonathan Crook; brother, John David Wimberly; sisters, Zadie Lee W.Hilton, Frances W. Crook, and Sarah W. Crook; sons-in-law, Dr. Lynn Crook and TeddyW. Britt.
Surviving is her son, George Lamar Westberry and his wife Suzanne of Bowman;daughters, Elsie Irene W. Crook of Asheville, NC; Nancy Kay W. Britt of Bowman;son-in-law Michael T. Arant and his wife Sandra of Eastover; sister, Grace W. GarrickPrice of Orangeburg; sister-in-law, Ruby Bair Westberry; 16 grandchildren; 35great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her special caregiver, Gloria Moye; Edisto Home Careand Hospice; and Grove Park Hospice for their love and care.
