Eva Magdalene Smoak's Obituary
Branchville,
Mrs. Eva Magdalene "Mag" Smoak, 87 years of age, died Monday January 26, 2009 at The Regional Medical center in Orangeburg. Mrs. Smoak was born in Orangeburg Co. a daughter of the late Willie David Wiles, and Fannie Eva Summers Wiles. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 57 years, was a member of the choir, and a member of The WMU. She participated in the Young At Heart group. She attended the Branchville Public School System, and was a retired sewing room supervisor. She was the widow of the late Richard James Smoak.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday January 29, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at The Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Etheridge and Rev. Brian Gray officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Mt. Tabor Baptist Church deacons will be pallbearers.
Survived by one son, Mr. Robert J. Smoak "Marie", one daughter, Christine S. Whetsell "Alton" both of Bowman, one brother, Walter David Wiles of Ga, three sisters, Virginia Waterman of Orangeburg, Joyce Collins of Branchville, and Jewell McLellan of Orangeburg, six grand children, Charmin West "Robert" of Bowman, Tracy Jenkins "Jim" of Grosse PT. MI, Melinda Whetsell of Mt. Pleasant, Renae Easterling "Mark" of Branchville, Ryan Smoak "Dayna" of St. George, and Lori Williams "Kelly" of Mt. Pleasant, eight great grandchildren, Madison West, James and Thomas Jenkins, Brantley and Hannah Easterling, Reese and Julia Smoak and Kade Williams, and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her stepmother, Mattie N. Wiles, four brothers, Danny, Willie, Eldon, and Willis Wiles, four sisters, Vernelle Wiles, Margie Howell, Ada Jean Garrett, and Doris Jackson.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at The Ott Funeral Home in Branchville and at other times friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Christine Whetsell 10138 Charleston Hwy. Bowman.
