Rickey Lenair Smoak Sr.'s Obituary
Rickey Lenair Smoak, Sr., also known as Frog, Daddy, and Papa, was born in Barnwell, S.C. on June 27, 1953. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, George Jefferson Smoak Sr. and Lou Mae Carroll Smoak as well as step-mother Mary Smoak. Also preceded in death by his brothers George Jefferson Smoak Jr., Horace Lee Smoak, and sisters Lula Bell Roome, Joann Smoak and sister-in-law Thelma Smoak (Chi-Chi). He served in the US Army 1972-1977 as a Specialist E-4 as a transport driver and was stationed in Germany. He then went on to start a family and worked at Southern Bulk Haulers at the end of his career.To Rickey, his family was everything to him. He was a very simple man who loved to be a goof ball. He always had a way to make us smile.He is survived by his brothers, John (Scottie) Smoak(Linda), and Howard Darwin Smoak Sr.(Diane), two sister-in-laws Sue Smoak and Ann Smoak, his four children, Angela Smoak Helms (Lawrence), Rickey Lenair Smoak, Jr.(Shawna), Rachel Smoak Mims, and Jeffrey Daniel Smoak, Sr. (Alexis), and two bonus daughters, Stacy Steiner and Jennifer Heath.He was survived by his 19 grandchildren, Tripp, Cory, Sarah, Cierra (DJ), Lex (Hope), Seth, Joseph, Kolton, Kelsey, Alissia, Surina, Lily, JJ, Finley, Luca, SJ, Jerry, Lizayla, Xavier and 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.His infectious humor and love will always be in our hearts. He was loved by so many and will be missed dearly.Services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11:00a.m. at the Branchville Church of God. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Barnwell Memorial Cemetery in Barnwell, SC.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Ott Funeral Home PO Box 96, Branchville, SC 29432.
